Beaches
Tralee's coastal location makes it the ideal base for beginner and experienced water sports enthusiasts. The town is at the centre of an arc of blue flag sandy beaches stretching both north and south along Tralee Bay. Derrymore on the N86 is just 5km from Tralee is a safe unspoilt beach while in the opposite direction there are fine beaches in Banna, Fenit, Ballyheigue and Ballybunion. There are water sports centres in the Maharees, near Castlegregory, and at Banna Strand on the R551 about 12km from Tralee. Fenit offers sailing and sea angling. Even on rainy days you can relax in the Aqua Dome, one of Ireland's largest indoor waterworlds in Tralee town itself. |
